Hradec Králové and Náchodsko Sundial trip

Starting point was at Nezvalova street on Saturday morning, of cours below The Sundial. There we were welcome by Miloš Nosek. Miroslav Brož has been talking about history and erors this sundial.

Next sundial is instalated at the „Malé náměstí“ square. 1.8 m high Cylinder sundial looks very interesting, but is this sundial understanding by people wallking around?

At a vestibul of residence „Šatlava“ is a new dial. There was open question, why number 4 is sometines written as IIII and another time as IV.
At square „Velké náměstí“ joined us next members from astronomical society an several other sundials friends. We met with towns history and its famous peoples (astronomer Jan Šindel, astronomer Tadeáš Hájek z Hájku – build Prague Orloj and was Tycho Brahes teacher too).

Sundial at south face wall of Univesity is long time in the shadow. This sundial is too low above ground level and it is oposit higher buildings.

Now we ended walk on foot and took ours cars to continue to the next places with sundial in this town.
The firs stop was in front of the basic school at street „Úprková“. Garden was closed and we could see this sundial through fence only.

Next stop was very interesting. At a short distance from steet caled „ Na Hrázce“ we stoped on and there we could see several dials. The first one is painting at south face wall and we could see it from this street.
The second one was made at the plastic table and instaleted at west face wall.

The last one was the most interesting homemade the Polar Sundial by Jan Tomek.
There wasn´t only sundial. Mr. Tomek have a huge collect of old machines and we could see some in action. Mr. Tomek and his wife are very friendly and before we ended our visit we got coffe break.

On Sunday we started our long trip very earli. Wa went by cars to wisit some dials in several towns.
The first town was Dobruška. There are painted two vertikal dials at a tower near townsquare. Since shoulder was curved, two members were traing to repair it.
At the square in Dobruška we could see at the water floating big marble ball.

Nové Město nad Metují, there are two dials at the old town square.

At the square in Náchod are two wery old sundials on the church walls. The dials aren´t from the same time probably. Their dial have diferent design.

At one house at the suburb there are wery precisiously dials on its three walls.

If the monastery in town Police nad Metují was close, we couldn´t see dial there is instalated. The spare time we spended in near construction sets „Merkur“ muzeum.

Ours next place was in Taplice nad Metují, where we could see three sundials.
The first one is made from metal and it is instaleted at house near train stop.
The second one we sow on the wall at school building. It was printed at platic table and looks very nice.

The last one we found at the garden behind restaurant where we had a lunch. This horizontal sundial has made from the stone with metal gnomon.

The remaining sundial we sow at a st. Michael´s church wall. There is shoulder only.

The most interesting sundial we have today saw is at the medow above vilage Vernéřovice. The „Sun Gate“ is made from stone by Zdeněk Hůla (painter and sculptor). This sundial shows time of equinox and solstices. But it is very diculty to understanding witout basic knowledge.

In vilage Velký Dřevíč we had one place with sundials. But we saw a stargazers copula at one garden . Then we stoped there and took any photograps. Owner invited us and told something about his hobby and showed us his sundial at own house too. Then we returned back to the our trip.

At the next place we could see two very perfectly created sundials at a wall and one made for future instalation.

At a chapel in Rokytník is very nice painted dial at its wall.

The last stop was in Červený Kostelec below sundial, of course. There we ended our sundial trip and returned home.
